Description

I am getting conflicting information about the correct UCUM code for a fully expressed UCUM value for cells/uL. In LOINC.org the fully expressed UCUM value is {cells}/uL. In HL7.org the fully expressed UCUM value is {Cells}/uL.

Remember that these curly braces annotations do not have any meaning. UCUM does not standardize such annotations. We would also discourage their use altogether. This is not necessary. If you specify your parameter as "red blood cell volumic number" then the unit can just be /uL or /nL. This is common standard in many laboratories for very many years, especially hematology cell counts. Often it is not the laboratories but the IT people who are asking for the "cells" addition.
